Certified Geriatric Care Informed Professional

Who is Eligible

Licensed professionals who work with the geriatric population in a healthcare or clinical setting at least 20 hours per week, including:

  1. Occupational Therapy Assistant
  2. Physical Therapist Assistant
  3. Certified Nursing Assistant

Training Requirements

A minimum of 12 hours of continuing education in specific geriatric care areas Learn more about CGIP certification training requirements.

Pre-approved, 3rd party trainings that meet the training requirements for CGIP certification include:

Please note that Evergreen Certifications does not offer continuing education, all training must be purchased directly through the accredited training organization. Training is not included in the certification fee.

Additional Requirements

The applicant must attest that he/she has spent a minimum of one (1) year working primarily with geriatric patients.

Application Process

  1. Complete a qualifying training
  2. Remit your initial application payment of 99.99 USD online
  3. Upload the following documents to your account:
    1. Evidence of completion of qualifying training, in the form of a CEU or completion certificate
    2. Documentation of professional status in the form of 1 of the following:
      1. Licensed professional - copy of your professional license or designation
      2. Graduate student – copy of your unofficial transcript
    3. A completed CGIP application form

Renewal

To maintain CGIP certification, a renewal is required. After your initial 1-year certification, you have the option to renew for 1, 2, or 3 years. A 1-year renewal requires 6 clock hours of continuing education related to geriatric care since you were certified or last renewed; a 2-year renewal requires 12 clock hours, and a 3-year renewal requires 18 hours.

Renewal Process

  1. Complete a qualifying training
  2. Upload the following documents to your account:
    1. Evidence of completion of qualifying training, in the form of a CEU or completion certificate
    2. Documentation of professional status in the form of 1 of the following:
      1. Licensed professional - copy of your professional license or designation
      2. Graduate student – copy of your unofficial transcript
  3. Remit your CGIP renewal fee online
