Certification in just a few, easy steps!

Who is Eligible:

To be eligible for certification, the applicant must have earned a minimum of a master’s degree in their profession and hold a state or national license as listed below.

  • Associate level or provisionally licensed mental health professional

By applying for certification, the applicant agrees to adhere to Evergreen Certifications’ Professional Code of Ethics

Training Requirements

A minimum of 12 hours of continuing education in specific telemental health topics.

Wondering if a course meets the requirements for CTMH-A certification? Submit a copy of or link to the course title, speaker, outline and learning objectives to info@evergreencertifications.com for review.

Please note that Evergreen Certifications does not offer continuing education, all training must be purchased directly through the accredited training organization. Training is not included in the certification fee.

Application Process:

For your initial 1-year certification, please complete the following steps.

  1. Complete a qualifying training
  2. Remit your initial application payment of 149.99 USD online
  3. Upload the following documents to your account:
    • A copy of the candidate’s professional license
    • Evidence of completion of qualifying training, in the form of a CE or completion certificate

Evergreen Certifications will certify applicants who meet the above requirements.

Please note: Certification does not imply endorsement of clinical competency. As a licensed professional, you are responsible for reviewing the scope of practice, including activities that are defined in law as beyond the boundaries of practice in accordance with and in compliance with your profession’s standards.

Renewal Process:

To maintain CTMH-A certification, a renewal is required after your initial 1-year certification. A 1-year renewal requires 4 clock hours of telemental health, HIPPA, Law and/or Ethics-focused continuing education since you were last certified.

Renewal CE content cannot be the same content used for prior renewal or initial certification

Renewal Process

  1. Complete a qualifying training
  2. Upload the following documents to your account:
    • A copy of the candidate’s professional license
    • Evidence of completion of qualifying training, in the form of a CE or completion certificate
  3. Remit your CTMH-A renewal fee of 49.99 USD online

Renewal training hours need to have been taken in the time since you were certified or last recertified.

Renewals are calculated from the date that your certification was issued. If you allow your certification to lapse for more than 1 year, you are no longer eligible to renew your certification and instead can reapply for certification

Joni M. Gilbertson - MA, NCC, LCPC, BC-TMH, CTMH

Joni M. Gilbertson, MA, NCC, LCPC, BC-TMH, is a licensed clinical professional counselor, Certified Clinical Telemental Health Provider (CTMH), Board-Certified Telemental Health Provider and the owner/founder of COPE Counseling Services, LLC where she uses telemental health to assist individuals, couples and families with everyday coping in areas such as relationship, depression, suicide, and general coping skills. She is a Board-certified Telemental Health Provider with years of experience seeing clients using distance counseling. Her counseling centers specialize in treatment for both adults and children. Joni is also experienced as a clinical counselor supervising a mental health staff within a hospital setting and within her clinical practice. She regularly uses distance counseling to work with diverse populations in multiple states. She is licensed as a mental health professional in Illinois and Florida while presently residing in Florida.

Joni completed many trainings in distance counseling and even edited numerous online courses for telemental health. She is a certified trainer in mental health first aid and motivational interviewing. She is also certified in domestic violence facilitation, phototherapy and selective other methods that enhance client awareness. For many years she trained mental health agencies, children and family services, first responders, jails, prisons, and detention centers on mental health topics along with legal and ethical matters of relative concern to each population.

Joni is also a college instructor in the Sociology Department where she teaches mental health and legal issues classes. She was recently nominated and presented with the award for “Teachers Who Make a Difference” due to her engaging and dynamic style of teaching. She makes learning an enjoyable experience with her passion for the topic of using technology for mental health.
