Certified Grief Informed Professional

Who is Eligible

Licensed mental health professionals, including those with an associate or provisional license, and graduate students in a mental health program who are practicing under supervision, including:

  1. Counselor
  2. Psychologist
  3. School Psychologist
  4. Social Worker
  5. Marriage and Family Therapist
  6. Psychiatric Nurse
  7. Nurse Practitioner (NP)
  8. Occupational Therapist
  9. And more!

Training Requirements

A minimum of 6 hours of continuing education in specific grief counseling topics. Learn more about CGP certification training requirements.

Pre-approved, 3rd party trainings that meet the training requirements for CGP certification include:

  1. Grief Treatment Certification Online Course by PESI
  2. Complexities of Grief, Loss and Trauma by ITTI - Certification Included!
  3. Grief Treatment Certification Training: Evidence-Based Approaches to Care Across the Lifespan by PESI - Certification Included!
  4. Certified Grief Informed Professional (GCP) Training: Redefining Grief Work with Up-to-Date Counseling, Support, and Treatment Tools by PESI - Certification Included!

Please note that Evergreen Certifications does not offer continuing education, all training must be purchased directly through the accredited training organization. Training is not included in the certification fee.

Application Process

  1. Complete a qualifying training
  2. Upload the following documents to your account:
    1. Evidence of completion of qualifying training, in the form of a CE or completion certificate
    2. Documentation of professional status in the form of 1 of the following:
      1. Licensed professional - copy of your professional license or designation
      2. Graduate student – copy of your unofficial transcript
  3. Remit your initial application payment of 99.99 USD online

Renewal

To maintain CGP certification, a renewal is required. After your initial 1-year certification, you have the option to renew for 1, 2 or 3 years. A 1-year renewal requires 6 clock hours of grief-focused continuing education since you were last certified; a 2-year renewal requires 12 clock hours, and a 3-year renewal requires 18 hours.

Renewal CE content cannot be the same content used for prior renewal or initial certification
