Training Requirements:
A minimum of 21 CPD hours of training with 18 of those hours specific to Dialectical Behavior Therapy topics and 3 of those hours specific to suicide and risk assessment.

Please note that Evergreen Certifications does not offer CPD, all training must be purchased directly through the accredited training organization. Training is not included in the certification fee.
Complete Clinical Hours:
Applicants must attest that, over the course of their career, they have conducted a minimum of 500 therapy hours using Dialectical Behavior Therapy as a theoretical orientation. Additionally, applicants must attest to the use of clinical outcome evaluation procedures to monitor and adjust therapy consistent with the APA policy on evidence-based practice.
Complete Required Reading:
The applicant must attest that he/she has read at least two practitioner books on Dialectical Behavior Therapy as a theoretical orientation, two books on DBT skills, and the APA policy on Evidence-Based Practice of Psychology.

Application Process:
For your initial 2-year certification, please complete the following steps:
- Complete a qualifying training
- Remit your initial application payment of 249.99 USD online
- Upload the following documents to your account:
- A copy of the candidate’s professional registration, credential, or membership
- Evidence of completion of qualifying training, in the form of a CPD or completion certificate
- A completed C-DBT application form
Evergreen Certifications will certify applicants who meet the above requirements.
Please note: Certification does not imply endorsement of clinical competency. As a credentialed professional, you are responsible for reviewing the scope of practice, including activities that are defined in law as beyond the boundaries of practice in accordance with and in compliance with your profession’s standards.
Renewal Process:
To maintain C-DBT certification, a renewal is required after your initial 2-year certification. A 2-year renewal requires 12 CPD hours of Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Suicide Risk Assessment/Intervention, Crisis Intervention, Personality Disorders, Mindfulness, Emotional Regulation and/or Behavioral Analysis-focused training since you were last certified.

Renewal CPD content cannot be the same content used for prior renewal or initial certification

- Evidence of completion of qualifying training, in the form of a CPD or completion certificate
- Remit your C-DBT renewal fee of 149.99 USD online
Renewal training hours need to have been taken in the time since you were certified or last recertified.
Renewals are calculated from the date that your certification was issued. If you allow your certification to lapse for more than 2 years, you are no longer eligible to renew your certification and instead can reapply for certification.

A real-world practitioner, Dr. Pederson co-owns Mental Health Systems, PC (MHS), one of the largest DBT-specialized practices in the United States with four clinic locations in Minnesota (www.mhs-dbt.com). At MHS Dr. Pederson has developed Dialectical Behavior Therapy programs for adolescents, adults, people with dual disorders, and people with developmental disabilities. He has served as clinical and training directors, has directed practice-based clinical outcome studies, and has overseen the care of thousands of clients in need of intensive outpatient services.
