Evergreen Certified CBT Clinician

• Hold a general designation and/or with endorsement that aligns with the standards set by the Psychology Board of Australia
• Hold a registration with New Zealand Psychologists Board AND hold a practising certification

• Be a Level 2, 3 or 4 member of the Australian Counselling Association (ACA)
• Be a full member of the New Zealand Association of Counsellors or Psychotherapists Board of Aotearoa New Zealand
• Be a clinical member of the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA)

• Be a member of the Australian Association of Social Workers
• Hold a practising certificate with the Social Workers Registration Board

Be accredited by the Royal Australian & New Zealand College of Psychiatrists

• Hold a General or Specialist registration with the Medical Board of Australia
• Hold a practising certificate and be registered with the Medical Council of New Zealand

• Registered or credentialed professionals whose professional scope of practice allows them to diagnose and provide clinical mental health treatment plans for mental health disorders and have met the registration or credentialing requirements in Australia or New Zealand are welcome to apply.
• Provisional or student registration does not meet the standards for certification
• By applying for certification, the applicant agrees to adhere to Evergreen Certifications’ Professional Code of Ethics

• Complete a minimum of 6 CPD hours in theoretical foundations of CBT
  • Understand the model
  • Core components of CBT practice
  • Behavioral interventions
  • Cognitive interventions
  • Knowledge of mindfulness and acceptance-based approaches
• Complete a minimum of 22 CPD hours in application of CBT in clinical practice
  • Assessment, diagnosis, and interventions for the following (but not limited to):
    • Depression
    • Bipolar Disorder
    • Anxiety Disorders
    • Trauma
    • OCD
    • Substance Use Disorders
    • Self-injury and suicidality
    • Personality Disorders (adult track)
    • ODD and Conduct Disorder (child/adolescent track)
  • CBT skills training, including (but not limited to):
    • Psychoeducation
    • Cognitive restructuring
    • Exposure therapy
    • Mindfulness
    • Behavior activation
    • Social skills training

Suitable education sources are approved CPD courses as documented by certificates of completion from the accredited training organization.

Evergreen Certifications will accept courses that have been completed within 2 years of initial application for certification.

To become CBT-C certified, you must complete all requirements outlined in the certification standards. If you have taken a training not listed as a pre-approved training, please send the course title, outline, learning objectives, and speaker information to info@evergreencertifications.com for review.

To get the most out of the consultation experience, it is recommended (though not required) to work with one consultant as that consultant will be better able to get to know your clinical skills and you will get the most out of the consultation process.

You will receive a completed Case Consultation Form from the consultant you present your clinical case to. You will receive a separate form for each case presented. Two (2) passing forms are required for certification.

When your certification application is approved, you may use the credential “CBT-C”

Your digital badge is automatically in your online account when your certification is active.

Once your application is approved, your certification is granted for three years. To maintain certification, a renewal is required every three years.

To maintain your CBT-C certification, you need to renew your certification every three years. Renewal requires taking a minimum of 18 hours of CBT-focused continuing education, submitting your completion certificate(s), a copy of your professional license, and the renewal fee to Evergreen Certifications. Re-certification training hours need to have been taken in the time since you were initially certified or last renewed. Renewals are calculated from the date that your certification was issued.

If you allow your certification to lapse for more than 3 years, you are no longer eligible to renew your certification and instead can reapply for certification.
