Certification in just a few, easy steps!

Who is Eligible:

To be eligible for certification, the applicant must be independently registered/credentialed as listed below, and hold a minimum of a master’s degree in their profession.

  • Psychologist
  • Psychiatrist
  • Psychotherapist

By applying for certification, the applicant agrees to adhere to Evergreen Certifications’ Professional Code of Ethics

Training Requirements:

A minimum of 18 hours of CPD specific to aging clients in the following topics:

Wondering if a course meets the requirements for ECAMHS certification? Submit a copy of or link to the course title, speaker, outline and learning objectives to info@evergreencertifications.com for review.

Please note that Evergreen Certifications does not offer CPD, all training must be purchased directly through the accredited training organization. Training is not included in the certification fee.

Complete Clinical Hours:

The applicant must attest that, over the course of their career, they have completed a minimum of 100 contact hours with aging clients.

Application Process:

For your initial 2-year certification, please complete the following steps.

  1. Complete a qualifying training
  2. Remit your initial application payment of 199.99 USD online
  3. Upload the following documents to your account:

Evergreen Certifications will certify applicants who meet the above requirements.

Please note: Certification does not imply endorsement of clinical competency. As a registered/credentialed professional, you are responsible for reviewing the scope of practice, including activities that are defined in law as beyond the boundaries of practice in accordance with and in compliance with your profession’s standards.

Renewal Process:

To maintain ECAMHS certification, a renewal is required. After your initial 2-year certification, you have the option to renew for 2 years. A 2-year renewal requires 8 clock hours of CPD related to aging and mental health.

Renewal CPD content cannot be the same content used for prior renewal or initial certification

Renewal Process

  1. Complete a qualifying training
  2. Remit your ECAMHS renewal fee of 99.99 USD online
  3. Upload the following documents to your account:
    • A copy of the candidate’s professional license
    • Evidence of completion of qualifying training, in the form of a completion certificate

Renewal training hours need to have been taken in the time since you were certified or last recertified.

Renewals are calculated from the date that your certification was issued. If you allow your certification to lapse for more than 2 years, you are no longer eligible to renew your certification and instead can reapply for certification

Dr. Julie Erickson -

is a clinical psychologist, author, and educator focused on mental health and aging. She is the author of The Aging Well Workbook for Anxiety and Depression (New Harbinger), a CBT-based self-help resource designed specifically for older adults. She runs a thriving private practice in Toronto, providing evidence-based treatment across the adult lifespan, and serves as an adjunct faculty member at the University of Toronto, where she teaches graduate-level CBT and supervises emerging clinicians. Dr. Erickson is also a sought-after speaker, delivering workshops and continuing education programs across North America focused on adapting CBT for older adults.

Ann Steffen, Ph.D., ABPP - Ph.D., ABPP

is currently Founders Professor in Psychological Sciences at the University of Missouri-St. Louis, where she has spent her career in teaching, research, supervision and direct clinical services focused on the needs of older adults and family caregivers.  At UM-St. Louis, she has served as the director of Gerontology programs and as director of clinical training for the APA-approved doctoral program in clinical psychology.  Dr. Steffen is dual board-certified in Geropsychology and in Behavioral & Cognitive Psychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP).
